A white paradise for Karl Lagerfeld’s last collection!A page is turned at Chanel with the last collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld, presented two weeks after his death. Emotion was palpable upon entering under the immense glass roof of the Grand Palais, transformed into a snow-covered village with a row of wooden chalets. In the room, those faithful to the brand and friends of Karl Lagerfeld were present including Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Monica Bellucci, and Penélope Cruz the star guest who closed the show after Cara Delevingne opened it. A show that began with a minutes silence and Karl Lagerfeld’s voice explaining how he accepted to work with Chanel.Collection: A wintery collection where tweed takes on all dimensions through suits and long coats worn with wide trousers. Materials are warm and patterns evoke a mountainous and skiing universe.Small white puffa jackets are worn with trousers, flowing dresses that are quilted or frilled are adorned with the double C revisited with a cable car, mix with the skier’s silhouettes. Technical materials that are perfect for the occasion are seen on the snow-covered podium through zipped tops.A poetic, soft and elegant finale with embroideries in the shape of a snowflake on mini bubble dresses.Interview with Anita Briey: I worked with Karl for such a long time, 52 years, which is something you don’t forget. He was an exceptional and kind man, and a great designer. It was wonderful working with someone like him.Interview with Brandi Quinones: It’s a very special day as we know its Karl’s last collection, unfortunately he was not here, only in spirit but the collection was very beautiful, it was nothing short of extraordinary as always for Chanel. The setting is beautiful, the people are beautiful. I’m very honoured to be here and to be able to share the moment of love with everybody.Interview with Caroline de Maigret: It was very beautiful, emotional, and very Karl. It was truly incredible to see the beauty in his epitome, in all his elegance and I thought the small nod to his cat at the end was very enjoyable and beautiful.Interview with Penélope Cruz: He was an incredible man, and he will be very missed, and I’m very honoured to be a part of what happened here today, there is so much love for him. Interview with Michel Gaubert: He had a passion for David Bowie and when David Bowie died, Karl said “he was someone unique, who will never be replaced” so I think they have something in common. He also loved Phillip Glass and as Phillip Glass has played David Bowie we used it for the show.Music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
