Artistic director: clare waight kellerlocation: within the walls of the palais de justicetheme: "night noir"collection: men and women. the faux fur at the start is carried out so well it seems almost real. long and magnificent coats appear in gradation colours and patterns. the shoulders are marked, the jackets layered with a sleeveless trench. the givenchy woman shown is sure of herself, feline and mysterious. over the course of the show she becomes sweeter with fluid dresses, cut and pointed, with pieces of lace and fringing, pleated skirts, sequin embroidered sheath dresses, bustier dresses with huge bows, lamé and frills. the collection ends in a grand finale with brightness and lots of femininity. focus: on the leather embossing, a bright green trench, a leather jackets worn as a shirt, the slightly loose leather trousers…to note: the accessories, the shoes and bags, notably the ‘gem’ and ‘jaw’ models, nonchalantly carried under the arms. interviews: clare waight keller: i’d looked back to the early eighties, west berlin, new wave culture and the fact that before the wall came down there was this mix between the bourgeois and the sort of angst, the grittiness the urban-ness and the brutalism of berlin. but again there’s sort of a posh society that exists there in the subcultures and so i mixed all of that together to bring in the fake furs that look like real fur, they look like the bourgeois fur from back then but they’re all totally fake and then at the start of the show they’re quite strong with the tailoring and then as you go through the show it kind of opens up into more of a sleazy thing with the lace coming in underneath and the oily leathers and even the fringes giving you that sort of amazing kind of attitude and quite a club feel. so that was really what i wanted to portray through the collection. arizona muse: i think my favourites are the shoes, i love shoes, she’s really brought back a very retro feeling and to me that’s the most glamorous part of fashion is in the 1920s, 30s, 40s, and she was reminiscent of that. music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information)
