Designer: stella mccartneyatmosphere: as with every season, the designer hosts us at the opéra garnier for a show full of vibrant and exotic colours. collection: the basics that stella loves and which established her name are seen through the tailored trousers with the double-breasted jacket and her shorter trousers, nearly everything is round and tightened around the ankle. wax printing takes pride of place, perfect for big dresses. the denim takes on an eighties vibe, faded in tones of green, blue and pink, and worn with big acid coloured taffeta skirts. mesh is simply worked in threaded tunic dresses. prominence is given to frills on the shoulders, staying put just like the cutouts which show the skin in certain places. to note: the loose white t-shirt, magic and simplicity achieved with japanese jersey + the black trousers with frills on the side + the new sporty sunglasses+ the many suggestions of shoes both masculine and feminine. interviews with stella mccartney and christine and the queens:stella: i think we’ve always kind of explored the man within the stella woman. and that more masculine scale has always come into our shows against things but i think against now this bigger, more voluminous taffeta it’s the contrast in materials i think that’s more what we were playing with, the kind of high and low. it’s a beautiful cotton base with a waxed effect and it’s just very bold, very bright, a little bit of humour, a little bit of a cultural reference i mean i think prints are something that are always beautiful to wear in the summer. we introduced a lot of colour this season. i mean we always have pops of colour but we were a little heavier with it this season and i think colour’s really important. in the summer it’s the time of year where you can wear brights and i think that, well i live in england so you don’t get much of a summer. christine:fashion week, i do it when it makes little sense to me. personally also i’ve been following her work for several years now. i soon started wearing her suits and then i met her and i like her character and i like her values as well and i like her activism. music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
