After new york, london, milan and paris, the marathon of fashion continues it’s journey with the 39th fashion week edition in portugal. over 4 days, the designs made in portugal are shown in porto and lisbon revealing their creations for summer 2017. the program of this fashion week imposes itself on the international stage, the emblematic labels thrill the country’s fashion(apart from zara) : luis buchinho, has a strong identity and a focus on graphics inspired by industrial machines which are applied on the asymmetric pleats or on the coloured knit. it’s equally the case with miguel vieira who is inspired by africa. note also the way we focus on the young generation with the bloom program, which gives designers fresh out of school the possibility to express themselves and to stand out this is the case with beatriz bettencourt, 22 years old, born in porto, who presents a sporty and urban line, combining comfort and revealing the body. or olimpia davide’s collection, with asymmetric silhouettes and plays with volumes.another name to remember is alexandra moura. she distinguishes herself by playing with bows, the deconstructed cuts, the open shirts and a sportswear spirit, combining the high tech details with a more romantic side. estelita mendonça starts with the finale and the designer’s salute. a conceptual stage for men’s sportswear fashion, with cropped trousers and sweatshirts embroidered with an orange strip. after having started with menswear, hugo costa created unisex pieces today, with games of stripes, blousons and ample trousers, knotted, a high waist and clothes with a frayed finish. susana bettancourt, combines craftsmanship and the technique, working the knit with asymmetric, deconstructed tops, and graphic motifs inspired by verner panton. graduated from st martins school, she lived in london for 10 years and renewed knitwear with creativity. sofia martins, graduated from modatex school, expresses herself through the striped silhouettes and the round cuts. note the patchwork motif for an imposing coat. we will finish with the presentation of alon livné who presents his graphic and sophisticated fashion with metallic effects. a fashion week open to experimentation but also anchored in international trends.
