Elie Saab Spring Summer Collection 2014 in Paris (With Interview)
It was already very hot in the darkness of the tent in the tuileries gardens but the temperature moved up a notch when the sensual elie saab spring/summer 2014 show got underway. lace worked in all different ways is both romantic and graphic, covered in strips, and becomes the central element of the collection, found on tops and leotards with thin straps which make you think of a baby doll nightdress. another important aspect is the prints: there are floral designs transformed by multicoloured sequins for the evenings. elie saab shares his personal version of an english garden, showcasing it from the dawning of the day until nightfall. this darkness is translated by long and short black dresses that all successfully create a parisian chic look which delights us once again.
we tried to present this collection as being light which represents the day to the dark colours that represent the night. the day is a part of the clothes that we have thoroughly developed and it represents a big part of our work in our house today.
we used a lot of lace in this collection but we tried to treat it as something structured. there are ruffles, there is lace but everything is always cut through structured or graphic strips to give it a daytime look that is slightly ready-to-wear and modern.
it is as if we took all the colours of the collection and placed them on little sequins which look like the prints that were presented. there are two main prints in this collection; one to represent the day and one to represent the night.
